Nothing wrong with modifying your own tactics. As long as they look like something a real footy team would use when they're done. I doubt any RL manager just plugs in a "default" 4-4-2 without looking at his players and telling them what he wants from them. If your tinkering is to accomplish what a RL manager would say to his players, IMHO, it's Ok.

Well, OK maybe some managers do just plug in their "default" secret formation...but they usually get sacked soon after.

I'm not so sure about all the default formations - isn't 4-1-3-2 frowned on in LLM because it was created by the developers and not a 'real' tactic?

What do you mean not a real tactic - that exactly what Real Madrid used to play IRL when the now Chelsea DM from France was sitting behind the attacking midfielders...

nothing is as simple as Skysports make it look on their line-ups, even with Andy Gray and his pen ! Even Liverpool probably play more of a 4-1-3-2 with The German in the side...

I thought the main problem with 4-1-3-2 was that it was specially designed by SI as a strong formation and a bit of a cheat because of its strength and being designed by others. I suspect that a club taking it on is probably a coincidence, although it possibly gives the formation legitimacy.
