Keep your tactics simple and look for players with decent physical attributes and maybe the odd key attribute, for example a striker with decent pace, acceleration and finishing will rip up the opponents.

As you'll have little or no transfer budget loans and free's are very important.

If you don't already get a parent club who will normally send at least 2 players out on long term loan.

Spend a lot of time scouring for bosmans. Get loads in on 1 week trials, most will be guff but the more you see the better the chance of finding a few gems.

Oldies are goldies in the lower leagues. Don't shy from signing players in their mid thrirties.

Emphasise physical trainig over technical. Far more important to have strong quick players.

Tactics: 442, quick, direct with combative CM's and big man / quick man upfront will see you right.

Put your best players on full time contracts, it makes a real difference to their improvement over a season, usually only need to offer a bit more they are already on.

Look at freebies like AKA said and makes sure you look out for premier league and championship youngsters who have potential and quality. Make saure they are transfer listed and they'll cost penauts.
