Players would still be fit if they get to play regularly at the end of the season, or by training with Arsenal. :p
That's why it's critical to keep scouting and attending matches to see some potential players that you'd bring into the squad.

| I don't think you get to arrange your own friendlies internationally? FA takes care of that.

Actually, this has been a long-running problem.
Real teams have international friendlies in the week or two before the World Cup. We should, too.
I know it isn't the "perfect" solution, but I'd like to see the Saturday, Wednesday, Saturday, and Wednesday before the World Cup kicks off made "Official international dates" in the game's engine, so that we (and the AI) schedule some friendlies there.
* * *
For an ideal solution, you'd want:

for teams to use their "World Cup" squad for those friendlies.

the ability to stage the matches at neutral venues in the region for "acclimatization" purposes, e.g., Colombia vs U.S.A. in Germany.

to ensure that an AI team playing on the opening weekend refused to schedule for the final date (don't want tired players at kickoff!).

basically every day in a 2-week window to be "available" for international friendlies, with care taken not to overwork teams.

| Agreed and valid points - I've also had the same issue managing the Czech Republic

Hmmm, yes and no. You have a couple of dates you're allowed to pick a friendly game on. You can't just have them at any time.

Yeah - just click on the 'v' in between the two teams' names before a match and it will change to 'attend'. I always watch World Cup Finals this way even though I'm only at St Albans.
