Default Potential stars and work permits.

This is in no way a rip on FM at all, just something I wanted to talk aboot.

I use the FM Scout on one of my save files, and I'm finding plenty of random people from all over the globe contracted to clubs in their countries (Mozambique, Togo, Thailand etc) and they all have huge potentials (like, 180 upwards).

As is the way I play, I try to get youngsters who are great and nurture them into superstars. So I bid for the players in an attempt to get them however their work permits are (rightfully) declined. This is not what I have a problem with. My problem is that these individuals, so set on leaving their club for a bigger one, do not sign a new contract, and therefore become a free agent. Now, free agents are rarely called upto the national side so this pretty much stops me from being able to get him.

However, this again is not a problem. My problem is that these players, after leaving their clubs don't do anything and just retire, aged like, 19.

I guess that it probably happens occasionally in real life too though.

Have you had this happen to y'all?

Its happened to me once before but i was not to bothered as he was nothing special.

THe only way to solve this problem would be to get a work permit feeder club since ive had one the problem has not occured.

You only know his PA because you "cheat", so stop using FM Scout and then you won't be worrying about players you can't get.

It won't stop it being a problem though. Occasionally it'd be fine, but far too many youngsters with high potential can't find a club and just disappear from the game completely. Pretty sure someone did an experiment a while ago showing how much of a regular occurance this is.
