for something different, i thought i would try loading up the south american leagues and have a go, maybe argentina or uruguay. i find myself playing games centered around europe quite a bit and its gotten a bit boring to see the same faces, as it were, all the time.
im wondering if anyone has any recommendations/comments about the so. american leagues, as i dont see too many posts about them. ie, any of them especially interesting to play (or not), or if there are any game issues/bugs (like problems w/the MLS) which i should avoid? thx
The South American leagues plus Mexico is all I seem to be playing these days. Probably because I like to explore leagues we don't know much about.
Hence why I also like to play the East European leagues. I had a great time in the Romanian league last year with FM07.
With the exception of Brasil, there are no cup competitions. All other leagues seem to comprise of an opening season and a close season with Continental competiton thrown in should you qualify.

thats exactly what i did, so. american + mexico. decided to start off w/argentina at racing where im tipped to finish 6th and likely see continental qualification.
as fas as foreigners, is it a strict interpretation of anyone not argentine is a foreigner?
also, any experiences w/trying to loan europeans to south america? seems like it would be hard to convince players to do that.
I like to play Brazilian league. Its almost impossible to bring a player from europe(even when they are brazilians and reserves of a low league team).
Brazilian is most interesting because they play an unique tactic there, its also nice because there are many things to win. You have the state championship at start of season, the main league, brazilian cup, sudamericana(if you qualify) and libertadores(the most reputation around, if you qualify). Another nice thing is that almost all players above 4-5 stars will most of the time go to europe, so you have to invest more on your youths. If the player is real good he wont stay on brazil much long(usually they leave at 20 yrs). But almost all teams have great youth facilities.
As recomendations, if you want an easy ride grab Sao Paulo, Cruzeiro, Flamengo or Santos. For a bit more challenge try Vasco, Parana, Botafogo, Fluminense. For some challenge try Nautico. I found the most fun team to manage is Coritiba. It is on second division but have a great squad with some nice youngsters(one is touted as the new Ze Roberto). For the real challenge I would recommend trying Ipatinga, but that should prove real difficult.
As you would do on europe, I woud recommend grab the best players from the lower reputation leagues(almost all on south america). Another tip is to look to your youths, since your best players wont stay much time on your team.

If you dont wanna see the same faces, dont play with real players - fictional is much more fun anyway
