Hi there!
Should I put my strikers on forward runs or not?
If you set them to standard, the forward runs thicker is always of.
And in al of the standard tactics, no strikers are set to forward runs?
I don't get it, shouldn't your strikers be making forward runs?

Yes they should!
I allways have my forward (and AMC or my offensive MC) on forward runs "often"
I only change my fullbacks away from home.
Home they make runs often and away they stay back.

i dont put my strikers on forward runs often anymore, becuase when forward runs are on mixed my strikers link up with the midfield better, are not stranded from support and do not get caught offside as much

| Why would you put FC or ST doing forward runs?? they are strikers that is there duty to be there in the box when that cross comes in or the through ball from the AMC. I cant see what puttin your strikers doing forward runs achieve unless you want them to end up in the back of the net without the ball |

Depends on wich striker.
I tend to use a striker who falls a bit back (like Rooney irl) and a striker who operates as a target man, more attacking (Saha). The Rooney striker will have forward runs on often but his mentality is slightly less, also has a higher creative freedom. While the Saha striker has little creative freedom but a higher attacking mentality.
I'm playing as Man Utd though... |

Yeah that sounds good as both Rooney and Saha can create chances what i ment was strikers like eg. Van Nistelrooy that you know he will always be around the box so no need to put forward runs.

| Well, its not the same, but in Italian Serie C2 i have a player that can only score from inside the box.
I tend to have his mentality very attacking (18). With little creative freedom & only a short passing style. I also have his forward runs on often (depending if i play on the counter attack or not). His Run With Ball is on rarely, since i don't want him to do that.
Seems to work decent; scored 4 in 4 since i started using those instructions.

I look for quick, agile, pacey strikers who are good Off the Ball (very important attribute). I set my striker's Forward Runs to Often, play counter attack and play lots of through ball (most players at medium, a few at often).

I never use forward runs for a striker, they get caught offside way too much for my liking, regardless of what mentality I use.
My strikers get around a goal a game each.

I lower the strikers mentality and put on f/runs only if they have high OTB, Positioning, Decisions and Anticipation...then it can work rather nicely
