It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

I don't leave it to the Ass Man because from experience, I've had players disagree with team talks so much so that they approached me with a request to leave the club. I like to take responsibility. They're effective and believe I've come up with a good formula though its true, team talk effects depend on the attributes of players but I think I've got the general idea and through a bit of trial and error, it's not difficult to see which options benefit your team.

Saumyajit - In regard to morale, that has a heavy impact on performance. Morale's become increasingly important and so if you can use your team talk to improve morale, that should improve the performance your team give also.

Yes, I found the same thing after playing the game, morale has become very important. And since i am not able to control it, i thought not top try to...and it has paid dividends too...without any teamtalk other than 100% ones like one more goal and encouragement, I am back at the top of the league. Moral is still very good and good mostly, but atleast players are performing ion the pitch...and moral is staying good/very good rather than poor just because i said that i expect you to win.

As an aside, my ass man has motivation of 8, so he handling team talks is out of the window now...

I must agree with this. From my experience I've come to a conclusion that especially pre-match teamtalks are pure evil. There's usually just one option out of the bunch that MIGHT have a positive effect and it seems to be a complete lottery.

I'm using less and less the pre-match and post-match team talks, mostly because there are too little to choose from. But half-time team talks seem to be very important.

Praising? No. Declaring yourself pleased? Never. Sounds like we can all retire.

Leaving it to the assistant? Thought of it, but yes, what if instead of making things better he destroys the morale? For example, I'm never ANGRY at my players, at most I'm disappointed. I dislike yelling managers, what if my assistant is a yelling-type? I'd sack him.

'Angry' actually can have a positive effect when youre trailing at HT. Have turned a few games around by yelling at my team during the break. Of course if you eventually lose, the morale will be even lower. So it's kind of a gamble.

In my last save I went on holiday for 3 months, when I came back 2 of star players were considering their options because they didnt like my assman's team talks (20 motivating 20 man management)

What I don't like is that this is completely removed from reality. The rest oif the game mirrors real life so well, but with this team talk and moral thing it seems we are dealing with 5 year old kids and not professional footballers. Agreed a low morale can affect your game, but the effects are not so drastic that if you say you are pleased, he will suddenly think he is the best player in the world and take everything rightly, or conversely if you say he was disappointing he will lose all interest in playing the game.

i don't do pre match team talks anymore, esp since i have a low motivation ass man, and without prematch team talks things are going well so far, 4 wins and 2 draws out of 6

Looking at tonights Wigan match at the Bridge, it would be great to have an option of telling the player "forget tonights bad performance and concentrate on future matches" or smth like that. Like Paul Jewell might (well, maybe) be telling Kristofer Hæstad after his debut tonight.

Like, don't let your morale go down, mate, it's just one game.
