I have found a way to be really effective from corners.
All you need is someone good at corners and someone good at heading.
Should have about 17+ for heading.
Set your corners to "near" and have the player with the good heading stat, for his corners, set to "near post flick on." You will notice that you score like 15 more goals a season than you would usually.
Neil Collins on loan from SUnderland has got 19 for heading and is excellent in league one. Scored 17 goals from defence.
Please give it ago and any feedback would be great.
This is what I use. I also have one decent jumper challenging the keeper, two good at long shots outside the area, another good jumper at the far post and all except the fullbacks attacking near post/from deep.
I've scored quite a number from corners, especially from the two at the near and far posts.
i have been doing this for some time and can confirm it does work very well. you can add to this by placing players with the highest ratings for finishing, heading, jumping and first touch at the far post in addition. if your guy at the near post doesnt score then the ones getting the flick-ons often do. i suggest the tallest centre-back "challenges" the keeper too. the down-side is that you are vulnerable on the break. this can be counter acted by having both full-backs set to stay back at all times. just make sure that these 2 are not taking the corners obviously. the first season i tried this i scored 123 goals in a season with mk dons. 37 from corners!!!! the down-side? i conceded 71. the second season (after i sorted out the full-backs) i scored 106 (29 from corners) but conceded only 51. this game can be so frustating at times, so it is very satisfying when you find something that works time and time again.
