Hello,

I am relatively new to FM, and when i first started on the game, i decided to manage my home club Shrewsbury Town, although I am a Utd fan. In my first season I got relegated to the Conference despite having a squad capable of a promotion challenge. The Conference season started badly, so I got really annoyed and blamed the team's poor performances on the poor players!! So i re-started the game as Utd, knowing all of the players and the tactics used in each game in real life.

I won all friendly games, but the Premiership has started badly.

Reading (home) Lost 1-0
Bolton (away) Won 1-0
Arsenal (home) Lost 1-0
Boro (away) Lost 2-0
Liverpool (away) Lost 2-1

Not the best start by any means!!!

I won't go into my tactics, although I know they are important, because I want input from other Utd fans who have had success with Utd.

Help will be much appreciated!

Try the Good Players and Teams forum where there is a thread for each of the bigger teams.- the links are at the top of that forum.

Same problem here, I tried probably almost every tactic

Rot Solid
BlundBlade
CC
Crazy Cra's
Wolfy
Wolverine
Maddogs
Digy's Diamond
Spit Faiyah
Loloblo V1

And so many others, but just nothing seems to work for me. I probably started 100 times over with United cause I was only loosing and loosing with sometimes a draw or a narrow win against smaller teams. I alrealy gave my hope up to find a good tactic.

So i do understand your problem but i don't know a salution to it.

ive got a 3 tactics i used for utd that worked well for me, 4-4-2, 4-1-3-2 (made that one when all me wingers were injured) and another attack minded 4-4-2 which done well including beating chelsea 6-0 in the CL final. The original 4-4-2 is doing well for me as notts forest atm as well, beat fulham in the cup and lost 2-1 to utd next round only just though

You do realise that when you are downloading other peoples "FORMATIONS", you are downloading them for their set football club and players. The only way you are going to succeed in this game is if you build your own "FORMATION" around the team that you are playing. If you go down 1-0, pause the game and look at the stats, see where you are going wrong. Adjust your team instructions and opposition instructions and you will see the improvement. There is no point complaining here because you cant win even though you have downnloaded all the "best" tactics around. Only YOU know your teams strengths.

leroy the boy, guess you will have to do some alteration to your tactics unless you want to be sack anytime soon by the board.

Aye there is only one United, and its Sheffield United seeing as we was the first ever club to have United in their name. So yeah there is only 1 real United :cool:
