Thats quite a interesting idea you have there ejm, an LLM spin-off series (Survival Manager perhaps?)
Though to be honest, the inability to take a team to the top simply won't be fun in the long term. Sure, taking a nothing team and ensuring it's survival is a nice challenge, but it's only the first stage. Without the ability to conquer the higher leagues the motivation to do the hard yards (and the enjoyment that comes with it) simply isn't there.
Having said that however, the chance to do the job of a true LLM Manager would be enjoyable. In particular, I'd like the chance to do the 'lawnmower' transfer or as happened in the Norwegian 3rd Division, sell a player for his weight in prawns!
Or about the team in (I think) Turkey a couple years ago, who were so happy that the team paid the transfer fee in bags of cement that they added an additional "star" player for free? Wouldn't that be a laugh.
Interesting definitely, but not profitable enough, like Merk said.
It would be really true and fun to a number of the hardcore LLM managers around. However, being too focused in the aspect of just barely being able to survive in the lower leagues just kills the franchise of the game.
The fun is gone. I don't know about others, but I play LLM with the goal of promotion and pushing my team up. Who doesn't want to win?
Of course, there are constraints like what you've mentioned. But really, getting a LLM-only game is just a passing item. The longetivity will kill itself. No harm downloading the demo though.
I've played cm since it first came out and yes i've managed lower league teams along with a top club to help the lower league team through to glory. But after purchasing cm4 all ive played is lower league management without cheating. the idea of a spin off game would be great. I'm converted to the great excitement and so would millions of other cm gamers. heres hoping.
Again this would be a good idea, but don't get your hopes up.
They won't add the non leagues of england in, so a certain game specifically for LLM is certainly a long way off. It wouldn't be realistic for an LLM specific game witht he scenarios you have pointed out to start in the conference.
Saying this, who knows what type of game Eidos will release?

I only recently managed to reach this stage. That was after a considerable effort as well.
Even if a llama specific game were to be done, the structure of non league football is going to change in the next season or two, so it's probably better to wait a bit.
Is it promoted here, that it would be nice to have a LLM-dedicated game mostly oriented on 'survival'? No Premiership (speaking 'bout ENG) glory, neither European one? Just sitting pretty in CON (or even deeper), exchanging lawnmowers for players (who play not really much better than that kind of machine :p) and enjoying thyself?
I'll try to keep it non-personal so i'll speak about myself. I, as a manager (yes, ok, GAME manager), like to take care of a small unknown team. BUT. Maybe i'm ambitious, maybe something else, but for me there's only two places in final division table - 1st and others. My goal would be to get to the top. From the bottom. I probably could not reach the goal in the first season. In the second as well. BUT. I'll do my best. Football is a game. And, as each game do, it has its own goals and landmarks. For me, "qualified for UEFA Cup" with my Telford is much-much better, than a record of "never relegated [AWA promoted] from the Conference".
To be more creative... LLM has its own features, absent in top-teams. That's quite for sure. But maybe it would be just another area to improve the game in? I mean, SI have done a great deal of job, and (i believe) they try to do it better even further. Trading lawnmowers is nice, but... you then should be able to know, how many of them do you have and need, how bad is your field condition, and then to hire lawnmower-man, and so on... there's no place for football left! It wouldn't be a 'championship manager'... And then you'll decide, what water will your players drink during the half-time break, and in what boots will they play, and what beer they will promote... That's all nice, isn't it?
Quite a mess, i guess...
P.S. And imagine yourself a news item:
"Stanley Village has been fined by FA for inappropriate ground qulity during the FA Cup Round 1.
Due to the lack of crops and total absence of lawnmower the board had to put three of your players on barter-exchange list in order to get those as soon as possible. Until then all further matches will be played away or on neutral ground."
Let's speak real life, shall we? Then that's what comes to mind.
IRL (here and thereafter i'm speaking about Russia) there are a lot, HELL of a lot team number. My town has a population of 150'000 and it has about 20 teams. Speaking about transfers? Wow. That's what IRL. A guy from team A comes to another guy from team B and says something like "Hey buddy! Our goalie has drunk up and isn't moving. Come to our match on Wed (we know your team plays only on Thu), bonus beer bottle for clean sheet guaranteed". POINT. Referees' abilities close to zero. Home side wins 99.9% of time. Tons of local cups and tournaments. Hm...
Another LLM thing happened IRL. A team manager (well-known among Russian community) paid transport expenses and transfers with HIS OWN cash. Imagine?
"Player XXX is set to sign for Lokomotiv Nizhny.
Unfortunatelly the club's transfer budget isn't enough to complete the transfer.
You had to pay missing $XXX from your cash."

That wouldn't happen. The FA have set criteria that allow or restrict a team's entrance into the FA Cup, a large section of which is to do with the ground, such as number of turnstiles and exits, number of barriers, numbers of toilets, capacity etc. I remember one localish team refused entry one year because their clubhouse was too close to the pitch!
