So I'll just add my two cent's worth and get me coat....
Because I like 3-5-2 and playing wingers (tactical tipping arse that I am) I like DM and AM R/Ls.But I've never been able to decipher much difference between them, or bothered investigating.
If they're out on the wing, I'd expect them to be able to cross and maybe tackle (depending on how good the rest of my midfield and my defence is), so I don't care if they can finish.
Fs now are different - I tend to only play them as forwards (although CM4 now confuses this even more by describing some Fs as "midfielder"s in their comments.....)
And what everyone said about ignoring position descriptions in small squads - I had a D/DM L in Greece who wasn't too hot at tackling but could dribble around half the opposition, then lay off a pinpoint pass to the striker, or score from distance himself - I played him at striker for half a season when my main striker broke his leg, and he scored shìt loads.
