Ok, I love this game a lot and have never found any thing extremely wrong with it to this day.
This isn't a complaint, just an observation.
Is it just my game that seems to overate the potential of many youth players?
E.g one generation of my dortmund season, there were atleast 6 youth players in the league 'touted as the next jurgen klinnsman'...and two from my youth academy.
This feature is brilliant and it really excites me to know I have an up and coming world class player on my hands, however, when I look at the stats, they are average. Even my coachs and scouts say they will never be more than 'decent'.
Now, i'm pretty sure Jurgen K was a little better than 'decent'...
Do any of you guys get this? Way too many media comparisons? Or did Germany just get a set of gifted youth gens?
I tend to ignore the comparisons with former players to be honest. In real life there have been many players who been touted as the next so and so but have never gone on to fulfill that potential. At the end of the day it is purely up to your assessment of the player as to whether or not you feel he has a future at your club.
I use miniscout and many times a players with a high PA are often said to have a "decent" potential, and someone with a low PA can have a potential of being a "leading" player.
Scout and coach reports are less reliable since the patch, but pre-patch they were very accurate.
Oh yeh, I've noticed scouts aren't as good which is annoying :/
E.g I scout a player I think looks better than anyone in my team yet hes called as 'decent'..i buy him anyway because im sure he is brilliant, then the coach report says 'quality'...bit silly

True, the number of IRL players touted as the next Maradonna (Ortega, Riquelme, Marcelo Gallardo, Messi, etc - only Messi looks like a reasonable comparison) tells you that the media consistently overhype players.

being touted the next say klinsmann doesn't ensure a player will be world class it just means he might turn out to be a similar type of player but hey he might be similar but could only be a klinsmann for the 3rd division for instance... His PA can be 120 for all you know...

Spot on. They might be hyped, but how many will actually reach their potential? Very very few.
