I just started up a new game and, in my infinite wisdom, failed to take note of the salary cap. So I brought a player in, and it's gone to the page where you allocate shirt numbers, but he's pushed my wages over the limit. Problem is, there doesn't seem to b anything I can do about it, but the game won't continue unless I somehow reduce my wages. I can't offer new contracts or release players because that still requires the game to be continued, which it won't let me do.

Am I stuck?

Yes, you will have to release players until you are under your wage budget. They are placed on a waiver list and if not snapped up within 48 hours will be released on a free.

Annoying, but should have checked the cap before signing.

I totally agree that I've got myself into this mess. Problem is, putting them on the waiver list doesn't help because when I do that, the game still doesn't continue.

Weird bug. Normally you just dont give them a shirt number and they will be waived. Also try giving them Designated player and then they dont count to salary cap. But you can only have 1.
