I'm managing a premiership club and want to stop my assistant manager offering contracts to every Tom Dick and Harry that comes through our youth academy.

I've checked the settings under Manager > Manager Options > Team Settings and for both the reserves and under 18's all the Ass Man does is Use Current Tactics and Take Control in Friendlies.

So why does every crap player get offered a contract at my club which I can't undo, all I can do is either release the player at a cost of anywhere brtween £5,000 and £12,000 or put him on the list.

When I took over the club it had over 70 players registered with maybe around 50 of those having a PA of under 100.

Anyone any suggestions?

Check the manager options again. It's there.

Manager Options then Team Settings. At the very bottom there is a check box that says "Contract renewals handled by assistant manager/coach.

But that is what I am saying, I have gone into those options and made sure that the Ass Man is NOT ticked to handle contracts and yet he is still signing up all my very crappy youth players onto full time contracts!!

Youth contracts are a known bug.

Have you gone on holiday (even for just one day).

Whenever I do that to avoid game crashes on international days, when I get back I get lots of mssages that my useless reserves who I haven't offered contracts to have rejeted them.

My assistant tends to take his responsibilities in my absence a bit seriously.
