Is there any chance someone could please please help me? I installed my football manager 2008 onto my new laptop with vista premium. The install happens with some serious errors and also when i try to start the game, all i get is the white screen with "load last game" in grey writing. I have been searching for months on how to fix this and im so desperate to play.
this had happened to me when u created folders/files in the program files FM2008 directory. Make sure you have no files and folders with the same name because instead of reading the file it will read the folder name and wont process.
lets say you downloaded a a file that adds pictures to the players and you created a folder called "graphics" inside the c:/program files/football manager 2008/ directory.
There is a file named "graphics" in there and the program uses that file to load up the graphics of the game, therefore, when you start up the game it is using your new 'graphics' folder instead of actually using the file named 'graphics' and for this reason is not loading up the graphics of the game, resulting in a white screen.
What i did then was just delete the DIRECTORY named 'graphics' so that the program can use the file.
Do you understand me?
its a bit difficult to explain like this.
I had the same problem, and tried everything in the thread at the top.
In the end I did a search for everything FM related on my pc (start > search > football manager) and discovered things that had been left behind by FM07 and FM06, even though I had uninstalled these previously.
I deleted everytihng that I found and then reinstalled FM08 and it's working fine now.
This might not be the case for you, but I just thought I'd suggest it.
Ye think i understand, just go into the sports interactive folder and delete any folder called graphics.
Also another question if thats ok, does it make a difference if you install it in my documents instead of program files? Read somewhere that people were saying the graphics file isnt loading up from program files, but does from my docs, if this is the case, should i install the whole game to my docs, or just move the graphics to a folder called mydocuments>sports interactive>footballmanager2008>grahpics.fmf
