Following a comment in another thread about someone having a UEFA B licence, I was wondering how many people who are involved in football actually play this game, and what do they think of it?

Sorry if this has been done before, I'm just interested.

1. I watch it.
2. I used to play it to a good level, before a career defining injury rules me out for far too much time as a teenager. (Not bitter about that, btw )

Yeah, I used to manage Barca way back when. Brought in Mourinho as my assistant and won a few league titles and the copa del ray. Left to follow my dream of posting on a game forum hoping that one day i'd get the chance to brag.

I coached youth teams for ten years and developed a program for a youth club, and it was during that time that I became interested in CM/FM (after playing USM for a year). I've always found the connections between the experience of real coaching and FM to be tenuous at best. That's partly because my experience was with children and teens while FM attempts to simulate professionals, and both the approaches to training and the approaches to tactics for those two groups differ greatly (which is why I get frustrated these days when the match engine depicts horrible back passes into the middle right in front of goal that remain uncleared by my backs, which I didn't tolerate at U11). It's also partly because it is very difficult to replicate both the tactical conceptualizations of the coach/manager and the indivudual reactions to them on the pitch.

I find the current version - 8.0.1 - to be increasingly difficult to deal with, and I really hope that SI eases the most egregious issues for 8.0.2 and gives the ME a real overhaul for FM09.

Played MLS Soccer for 4 seasons, but would never have been anymore than probably a League 2 player in England.

Play for Walsall Youth Team and part of my scholarship is that i have to take a coaching course one day a week and my teacher from the course told me about the game lol
