I'v got a problem regarding work permits and nationalities, any help would be much appreciated.
I'm managing Hearts in the 2010-2011 season and I signed Shevchenko on a free from Chelsea. My only problem is he didnt get a work permit. I have a Bulgarian feeder club for nationality but it would take three years, and hes already 33! He's considering Italian citizenship, but doesnt look like he'll take it any time soon.
Only way is to keep offering him a new contract. If he hasn't got one when signing he may not get one at all. TBH I'm surpirsed he didnt get one right away.
Itried offering him a new contract but he doesn't seem interested at all. I was really suprised when he didnt get one, although i checked his reputation and its dropped to national and he also doesn't seem to be in the Ukraine squad anymore, even though his stats are still impressive.
nothing you can do mate, they have to be playing in that country to get citizenship for it, and seeing as he left italy a while ago, the only time he could take it would be to play for another Italian club.
i doubt it, look at all the years he was over there and never took it! its possible i spose, certainly worth a shot seeing as youve signed him! if not, looks like you have a rather expensive useless player on yer books..

I was going to suggest that. This is a game after all, most players seem to take it on the game despite the real life situations. So he may take it if you loan, worth trying as it probably the only way you will get him one.
i had exactly the same problem in the same year with shevchenko. by 2011 he has been in england for 5 years, and he's still a full international.
the citizenship thingy really needs a fix, because i'm sure any player irl would take up EU nationality if already considering it to sign for an EU club after agreeing terms.
