I managed to get backgrounds working in FM 2005 but can't this time round.

is what I've put in the background config file, do I have to change something to the xml of the skin?

ive ticked enable background changes and use skin cache in preferences

ok, sometimes the pictures comes up, sometimes the screen is black, and sometimes the default picture comes up. any ideas?

im using the metallic 2006 skin.

and am putting the backgrounds/config in the graphics folder in the skin folder, not the general graphics one.

now ive decided i cant do it, ive deleted the stuff i have put in, but still this black screen sometimes comes up!

any idea how to stop it? its the team im playing as also which is annoying.

Turn off the skin cache (you can turn it back on when everything is working).

To go back to the default background - delete the config file in the skins backgrounds folder and put the default background back (or just delete the whole backgrounds folder for the metalic2006 skin, and it should use the default game background).

To get your background to work with the Metallic 2006 skin.

Browse to \Football Manager 2006\data\skins\metallic2006\graphics\backgrounds (If there is no config file in this folder copy the one from \Football Manager 2006\data\graphics\backgrounds)

Copy the background you want to: \Football Manager 2006\data\skins\metallic2006\graphics\backgrounds folder.

Open the config file in this folder with notepad.

Paste in the following line, just after the existing line with default in:

<pre class="ip-ubbcode-code-pre"> &lt;record from="imageFileName" to="graphics/pictures/team/UNIQUE_ID#/background"/&gt; </pre>

where imageFileName is the name of your background (best to name it with the clubs ID).
UNIQUE_ID# is the club ID.

Save the file and load up FM, your background should now be on that screen.

If you want the background appearing for every screen leave the config file alone, and rename your new background to default (moving the existing default background first).

ive deleted everything in the background folder apart from the config and default background and i still get the black background for peterborough, any ideas?

sometimes it is black, sometimes it is the default.

ive deleted the skins folder and got a copy of my mates and i am still getting the black screen just for peterborough.
