Tactics & Training Tips

It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

Default A tactic that works for me in FM2007! Finally!

I've been trying several different tactics with Leeds since I bought the game but nothing have worked. To many draws and 0-1 losses. But now I've come up with a tactic that seems to work for me. It's a simple 442 tactic but with very offensive, short passing and pressure settings. Now I'm winning games and scoring a lot.

It would be great if you guys out there could try it out and tell me what you think of it. Maybe it can be tweaked and made even better?

Don't know how to post the tactic so I'll write how to do instead. It's very simple.

1. Start with 442 Attacking and adjust the forward arrows to half.
2. Set mentality to All out attack.
3. Set passing to short passing. (all the way to the left)
4. Set pressure all the way to the right.
5. The right or left inner midfielder should be set to defensive mentality and various forward runs.

There you go. Simple isn't it? But it worked for me!

so other than one MC, all of your players including the GK and CD's will be on a maximum attacking mentality?

Sounds a tad risky!

Damn I forgot some settings to the tactic!

Add these settings:

6. The central defenders should have defensive mentality and no forward runs and no running with the ball.

That's all! Good luck

Yeah I know it sounds risky. Sure, it makes you conceed a bit more goals but you will make a hell of a lot more. Give it a go swash and tell me how you did with it.

oops...the central defenders should be set to normal mentality, NOT defensive. Argh! I don't seem to get anything right this morning. : )

I'll write it down again, this time correct:

1. Start with 442 attacking and adjust the forward arrows to half.
2. Set mentality to all out attack.
3. Set passing to short.(all the way to the left)
4. Set pressure all the way to the right.
5. The right or left inner midfielder should be set to defensive menatlity and various/normal forward runs.
6. The central defenders should be set to normal mentality and no forward runs and no running with the ball.

Keep all other settings.

cheers!

Gave this a little whirl today and thought the Defense in this was shockingly bad, so made a few tweaks too sure it up a bit more.

Your currently throwing everyone but your DCs forward leaving you terribly open on the wings allowing opposition wingers to have a field day in setting up their forwards on the Counter.

As Salzburg in Austria I have a strong team anyway but by changing The DCs mentality to Defensive (all the way to the left) and changing the DR and DLs Forward Runs to mixed it seems to solve a lot of "silly goals".

Good tip PH lover! Will try your adjustments with my Leeds right away.

If i very you i would never set my GK mentality on full attacking. Mentality of 10 results in lots of silly goals when goalie runs to intercept pass to the middle of my own half. I found out that 5-6 does job for me.

Come on guys! Would like more players to try it out....
Tried it with Arsenal for ten games just for fun. 9 wins and one lost. Beat Chelsea away, Liverpool and Man U at home. Beat Fenerbache with 7-0. Lost away to Wigan 2-3. They had two shots at goal! Scored on own goal, penalty and a free kick. Grrr!
