It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

Hi guys. This tactic is THE tactic for FM2007.
After importing so many different tactics, such as Rot, Minimal Fuss, Domination, etc. which in my opinion failed miserably, I finally found the solution.

Just go to the standard tactics. Choose the 4-1-3-2 Formation Attack for Home, 4-1-3-2 Defensive for Away.

No matter how you tweak this formation, it will always prove excellent.

However I found that they work best as following: for Home matches, increase mentality to 18, and for Away matches, decrease mentality to 7 and ticking counter-attack. Also, make sure that Central Midfield stays back (no need to hold ball), and that Defensive Midfield stays back and holds ball.

Tried it with Man Utd, and won EPL and Champions League.

The big news however is...I tried it with Charlton, and won EPL and League Cup. Finished Runner up in FA Cup.

What's great with this tactic is that you do dominate matches. There will be the odd loss, but mostly, you will win, and win in a convincing fashion.

Will post more, soon. Please do try it.

THIS IS THE SOLUTION! NO DOUBT!

What's more noobish? Posting a brief, but pretty well explained discussion about some changes to the default tactics or contributing absolutely NOTHING to the conversation.

Sorry. Pet hate at the moment.

VicGAx - I play this shape, though I don't use the default formations. It seems the DM, CM combo gives the midfield pair space to pass the ball to each other, yet they can still cover the opposition central midfield. Allows them to knock balls out to the wing players or over to the strikers. I'm a fan, but it does have its shortcomings against a team that packs the midfield.

Overall, though, this is how I line up every game until I work out how the opposition are going to play against me.

Either contribute or don't post at all, or you'll be a n00b with a warning.

VicGaX - Have you got any screenshots of the league table and a few of the stats from some of the games for me to look over please?

4-1-3-2 works well in lower leagues. I use it for home games and away where I'm expected to win easily. I have forward arrows on ML/R (long ones) and DL/R (short ones). Usually works quite well, but still not perfect (I lost conference south playoffs twice, I won the third time, was quite lucky to win in penalties in semi-final).

A DMC anchored midfield is almost an essential - the defensive midfielder or midfield libero has almost completely overtaken the role of playmaker from the AMC. The natural triangles that a diamond midfield creates are, and always have been, particularly effective in the CM/FM match engine 4-1-2-1-2 and 4-1-3-2 tactics are almost always a success if you set player and team instructions appropriately, but almost any tactic can be a success if tailored correctly.

VicGAx can you not get a screenshot of your tactics and then up loading it and putting it on here for us to see. If you could also get a screenshot of the team instruction it would be even better.

thanx very much
