Well if you think about it, IRL it may well increase a player's training workload because he would have to retrain in a new position on top of his existing training schedule. Unless of course some of his existing training schedule is sacrificed to allow the player more time to retrain in a new position.
However, I'm not sure how positional retraining is integrated into FM, and whether or not it increases a player's workload (without any visible changes to his training schedule).
Have a look at the Positions branch for each of your players to see where they can currently play, their existing positional ratings, as well as potential positions with potential ratings for these additional positions, if any.
Positional retraining is linked to a player's versatility; the more versatile the player, the quicker it takes him to retrain in a new position successfully, and also the greater the chances of him retaining his new position / side after the retraining has been adjusted / removed.
I'm not sure but I've retrained two players to new positions now (one of them to 'accomplished' in two new positions, took almost a year) while they were under heavy training workload, and neither got injured during training.
I have a question that somewhat relates to this so I hope you don't mind if I ask it here. Is it possible to retrain a player to have a 'natural' ability in his new position? Or is 'accomplished' the best you can get?
could there be a message from the ass man to tell you when the player has retain such as "player X is not an accomplished postion Y" so you could drop the position?
I would like to confirm if other people have experienced this, when training a player for a new postion have you found that it use's up some of the players PA ?

That's a good idea, it would save both your player's and your own time if the assistant manager included something in his monthly training feedback report. This way, you could remove the player from his retraining within a maximum of 4 weeks if all is not going to plan.
