I'm Cambridge and in my second season, promoted into League 2. I signed John Achtenberg and although his ratings for kicking and throwing are good, he seems to regularly give the ball away at goal kicks and I lose a lot of goals this way. Any idea why?
Depends how you're playing, I generally find that passing/throwing out to a defender is a disaster waiting to happen. Instead i useually set my goal keeper to long kick (distribution) and Direct passing style; I also tell him who to aim for.
A general rule of thumb is too have him aim for sombody with good jumping and strength so they can win the ball.
my keeper has great kicking and I have it lob it straight upto my target man, my keeper actually has 6 assists this season.
Cheers for the help, I'll give it a try tonight and I'll let you know how I get on. I'm doing quite well, I'm sitting 1 point behind Dag & Red (who got promoted with me) and I'm playing them next. Never seem to win by much but I've had a few hammerings.
