Hey
Im having problems with my team at the moment, im conceding a LOT of goals and drawing a seriously large amount of games. At the end of last season, my last 10 games consisted of 6 score draws, 2 wins and 2 losses, which for a team supposed to be winning the title is shocking really. At the start of this season, Ive drawn 2-2 and 1-1 with Fenerbahce in the Champions League and 1-1 with Udinese in the Italian Super Cup.
My Team is as follows:
GK: Morgan De Sanctis, Diego Cavalieri, Francesco Toldo
DRL: Maicon, Daniele Bonera, Javier Zanetti, Emiliano Moretti
DC: Marco Materazzi, Lucio, Sylvain Distin
MRL: Jeremy Menez, Antonio Cassano, Luis Figo, Dejan Stankovic
MC: Andrea Pirlo, Patrick Viera, Nigel De Jong, Massimo Ambrosini
ST: Iaquinta (sp?), Adriano, Carlos Vela, Theo Walcott
My Tactics: Home Away
Any help you can give me is much appreciated, or any tactics you can point me in the direction of would be equally appreciated
Cheers
@ mods: I believe this to be a tactic evaluation, however if you see this otherwise, I apologise for misinterpreting the rules

If im being honest, im not sure how im conceding, but my players seem to be getting drawn out of position or just failing to mark their players. I could write down all the instructions, but they are pretty complexed (especially the player instructions) so it would help me if you could download the tactic file and look at it from there ... if this is not possible or too much of an inconvenience I will write them all out for you |

A lot of people are at work so cannot download the tac file to look etc.
Are the players being caught out of position because of over commiting i.e high closing down?

aaaah ok fair point
As I do not host the online game where I am Inter Milan, I will be using the Italian National Team to "model" my tactics.
OK, my 4-2-2-2 Attacking Tactic looks like this
Team Instructions:
Mentality: 18
C. Freedom: 4
Passing: 4
Tempo: 18
Width: 18
C. Down: 16
Time Wasting: 0/1
D. Line: 16
Tackling: Normal
F. Passing: Mixed
Marking: Zonal
T.Man Supply: Mixed
Tight Marking ticked
All others unticked
Player Instructions: GK: Sliders all Team, but Passing = 12
FR, RWB = Rarely
LS, CB = Mixed
TTB = Often DRL: Sliders all Team but Passing = 11
FR, RWB, TTB, CB = Often
LS = Mixed DC: Mentality : 5
C. Freedom: Team
Passing : 11
Closing : 5
Tackling : Team
FR, RWB : Rarely
LS, CB : Mixed
TTB : Often MRC: Mentality : 5
C. Freedom: Team
Passing : Team
C. Down : 5
Tackling : Team
FR, RWB : Rarely
LS, CB : Mixed
TTB : Often MLC: Mentality : 13
All others : Team
LS, CB : Mixed
TTB, FR, RWB: Often AMRL: Sliders all Team, but C. Freedom = 14 and Tackling = Easy
LS = Mixed
All others = Often ST: Sliders All Team, but Tackling = Easy
LS, CB = Mixed
Others = Often
That took me ages, so Ill leave it at that ... all the help you can give would be awesome and ill try and implement it into my other tactic
Thanks guys

Yo Saw. It's Mattie, host of the game that he's talking about if anyone else is wondering.
I said i'd post abit of tiny advice on here for you myself.
Personally i read alot of the forums for a period of time on tatics, then i made a basic sort of tatic, that to be quite honest i use in most games, using normally the same player instructions, only changing where nesiciary (my appauling spelling), to suit a paticular player.
The main things i find from there is generally dependent up on my centre backs style is whether i man mark or not (there are posts you can search on the sort of player you need to suit this role).
The main main thing i feel though about your tatic is i know that when i play i will always change team instructions during a match, over player instructions, depenet on if i feel maybe after scoring a goal i feel our passing has detierated(sp), or the oppostion is getting behind my players too easily etc..., the 1 time i do change player instructions is when the opposition changes there formation, maybe for example to a 4-2-4 attack, therefore for example i'd slap the full backs on lower forward runs etc...
I find the other useful thing is to always read the scout reports, i think it was cleon who originally made a big post on this talking about how he changes his general team mentality to fit the scout report before a match, either possibly search the thread or maybe cleon will give you the link, i lost all my thread stuff since the account changes, as i missed the window too change when i was offline for 2 months moving to the isle of man .
i think if you set the player instructions generally to fit your team, then just read up on how to take advantage of team settings that will more than likely need editing during a game to counter the opponent, thats my best advice.
Cheers Mattie, the most amazing host, and worst ac milan manager in history. Don't take me to court if any of that advice is poo either Oh and don t beat me in the next derby!

I'm guessing you don't play as a unit because the mentalities of the players are so different across the whole field. This creates huge gaps and makes it hard to be solid.

As it stands you have a mentality difference of 13 between the DCs and FBs, plus you have the DCs bombing forward. Pretty horrible.
I also think zonal tight marking and high closing down with the exception of the DCs is a horrible combo. Your defence will be dragged all over the place and the FBs will never be in position to support the central defence. The space behind them must be enormous. You will have more two-on-twos than you can shake a stick at.

Thanks for the responses
So:
1. I should use more team instructions rather than individual responses?
2. I should not use attacking full backs or is there a way to combat the attacking full backs?
3. What is the optimum closing down rating? (Ive read between 5 and 8 somewhere?)
4. Are there any other things that can be improved?
Cheers
