This is the second part of my "managing player personalities" trilogy. The first part was FM Personality Guide.
In addition to tutoring, there is also another way to manage and improve a player's personality, by disciplining him. You are given the option to discipline a player in his profile, but only if he has done something wrong.
Up to now, I have now found four different situations when this measure applies.
Issue a warning/Fine for a yellow card due to complaining to the referee or for a red card. (Temperament, Aggression)
After a red card, you are given the option to issue an official warning to the player or fine him for 1-2 weeks. If you do that, three are the possible reactions by the player: feel you are harsh, accept it without further comment or accept it and state willingness to improve. In the third case, his Temperament (hidden attribute) will improve by one point.
In the case of a red card, his Aggression may also decrease by one point.
It's important to pick the right option of discipline. Players with high Professionalism are more likely to accept your meaksures. Also, a fine is more likely to be accepted if the red card was straight. If it was a second yellow card, you 'd be better off with a warning. The same applies to the case of a yellow card due to complaining to the referee.
Important note: As in the cases below too, if the player feels you are being harsh, he may dislike you and his morale will drop.
Issue a warning/Fine for playing badly. (Determination)
When a player plays especially badly in a match, you may be given the option to discipline him (you need to check his profile).
If your measures are accepted by the player and he also states willingness to improve, his Determination will increase by one point. The more professional the player, the worse his performance, and the worse the result, the more likely he is to accept it.
Issue a warning/Fine for coming back late after holidays, for coming back especially unfit after holidays or for missing training. (Professionalism)
If the player accepts the warning/fine, his Professionalism (hidden stat) will improve by one point.
Note that it is especially important to take measures in this case, otherwise other players may be "worried by lack of managerial discipline".
Issue a warning/Fine for disliking a fellow player. (Temperament, Professionalism)
If a message stating "Trouble at <your club>" appears in your inbox, then a player at your club has started disliking another player. You will then be given the option to discipline the one who caused the trouble (check the players' profiles).
If the player accepts your measures, his professionalism or his temperament will increase by one point. However, you will go on disliking. Check his profile often to see if you are given the option to fine him again.
