There's a similar thread going on somewhere, but I can't find it to link to. One of the users has experimented and found that a striker with higher decision making and composure stats will score more often than one with better technical ability (you still need SOME technical ability, though).
Okay, it's only one user, but looking at my own, yes, of my first choice strikers, the one with higher decision stats scores more. On FM08, I think this is more important than ever.
Certainly, on FM07, young quick strikers would score for fun, which isnt the case on this year's.
I signed a guy called Rosenberg in 2011, who looks fairly average technically for a top-flight striker (key stats 14-16), but mentally he's excellent. Am three games in, he's scored 3, then 0, then 2. 5 goals in 3 games looks like a bargain freebie to me. Time will tell re consistency though.
