How long's a piece of string?

It can be very quick, depending on the players you sign and the tactics you employ, or you can be sacked before you get anywhere near promotion.

Have a read at LFCfan's "World Relegation Tour" Epic in the Hall of Fame to get a picture of how difficult/rewarding it can be when you do it the LLM way.

Well, when I have taken a new job (after cm has ran for a few years, not at the start of the game) it usually takes two or so season to start getting the team together. you know, youngsters coming through, deadwood that are on 1k p/w that nobody is interesed in being released.

That is just me though. I think it is very hard to get into a LLM club and have a perfect team as soon as you have joined.

But how about the "All-Grey"s? Surely they're the perfect team? Blank canvas, no deadweight etc...

Nah, they're the opposite if you want a real challenge.

If it's a Team of greys you're starting with a clean sheet, and the players you get are the players you want.

The reason Leigh RMI were such a good challenge was that they had a squad full of deadwood and you were limited with how many of your own players you could sign, and other Teams weren't interested in signing the players you had.

I think it takes lionger to rebuild a squad early in the game. after it has been running for a few seasons you start to get an understanding of the players that are out there and who wuold be good to fit your system.

I think there is a difference between having a top six side and a championship side. I'd take 1-2 three seasons going for top six and 3+ for promotion.
But at the end of the day it all depends on the rub of the green. sometimes you get a good hand other times it's sh*te. a player can look good when you see him and sign him and play like your gran after that, so the old length of string thing runs true.

Hate that sort of player. You spend a large percentage of your transfer money on him, hoping he will make the difference, and in most cases he ends up being a pretentious uppity player who will only play well if he gets all the attention.
