Can anyone explain why winning the Argentine League is rates as more than 4 times as difficult as winning the German one? 3 times as difficult as winning in Spain? almost 3 times as winning in Italy? Oh, and Uruguay is harder than Germany and the Netherlands too? I really doubt the relevance of that system

Hmm, skimmed the articles!

But three Argentinian and two Uruguian teams in the top six is telling me that the scienctific calculations didn't work!

And how did Tottenham get in the top 75????

How many German teams have won the Argentinian league? None. Yet they win the German league all the time. Incontrivertible evidence.

The system could be really good if there would be a meaningful way of comparing the Southamerican teams to the European. Alas, there isn't.

quote:
...while the performance of European sides in the Intercontinental Cup and Fifa World Club Cup help to determine the weight given to the European Cup/Champions League.

There's the whole flaw right there. No European club gives a flying burrito about these competitions making the weighting worthless.

There is loads of other stuff on his website about UEFA co-efficients and the suchlike. Also found a section entitled "worst teams" which is far more entertaining.

quote:
The West Midland Division One North is at the fifth level of the
English League Pyramimd. While there are lower-level leagues elsewhere
in England, the fifth level is the lowest possible level for a team in
the West Midlands.

Results from the Burton Brewers' Matches (2000 - 01 season)

Wolverhampton United 18-0 Burton Brewers
Burton Brewers 0-6 Bescot
Burton Brewers 0-17 Shrewsbury Town Youth
Burton Brewers 2-13 Crewe Vagrants
Burton Brewers 0-21 Darlaston
Burton Brewers 0-27 North Staffs
Burton Brewers 0-23 Willenhall Town
Crewe Vagrants 22-0 Burton Brewers
Burton Brewers 1-14 City of Stoke
Burton Brewers 0-16 Wem Raiders
Willenhall Town 57-0 Burton Brewers

Before the 18 March 2001 matches could be played, the Burton Brewers ceased
operations. The league website stated that "the club have been struggling to
find players all season so the decision comes as no real surprise. Nevertheless
the club have done particularly well to continue this far."

i cant imagine how bad a team would have to be to lose like that tbh. unless they played with 7 players sometimes or something.

I think the Brazilian and Argentine competitions are quite competitive, although usually the European Team won the World Super Cup or whatever the official name of that contest had been (Copa Libertadores winner vs. European Champions Cup winner). Of course it's almost impossible to come up with numbers that model it right, but those numbers were definitely wrong

Where's Hearts??

I thought our Scottish Cup triumph of a few seasons ago would've put us in the top 20 at least.
