selling off your best players can be more than a double edged sword.

The Negative
1. your team looses faith in your managment and plays sh*te.

2. the fans and managment get pi*sed off you sold their best player

3. you eith can't stop leaking goals at the back, can't create any in the midfield, or cant hit a coo's arse with a banjo up front.

4. there must be some more

The Positive
1. you cut your wage bill in half.

2. your team is happy because that jummped up little Sh*te has left the team.

3.You get some money to invest in a new star player

4. you give an oppertunity to as the ass man puts it 'a currently undervalued player' and he turns out to be a star.

The biggest problem many potential LL managers struggle to overcome is fear of selling. You will inevitably be cash-strapped so all players must be viewed as financial assets and if you can make a profit from selling-on then you really have no alternative. You will find more than adequate replacements on frees or for less money. Be careful not to sell too many favourites and upset the squad yes, but don't risk losing them for nothing by trying to keep them forever.

i dont think there is a better feeling than selling that complaining bighead who thinks he's more important than me, letting him bugger off to some premiership team where he wont get a game, be sold 2 years later after having played 4 games and being laughed at by blokes in clubs for having a **** haircut, and getting into fights with bigger blokes, then having a nervous breakdown and getting named after a severe alcohol related mental condition.
Then when he gets a free transfer, i take him on trial, get his hopes up, then say.. nah, hes no good! and let him get a job as a brickie and drive past him every day in my nice new merc!

but also, its quite soul cleansing to get rid of the big stars in order to bring in a new set of younger hungrier players who go on to be better, like the great juventus sides of Lippi used to do.

Usually nobody is interested in my players, so I'm laying them off for free.

I always sell a star player if his demands are too high. Usually, they come back to haunt me though
