i first give all i can, and most of the time they decline. then i offer them to 10+ clubs. they really get very scared. they put the signature for half of what i said in the beginning. so the ones that accepted the first time (the loyal ones) get more salaries while the other b**tards who act like primadonnas get the half. i dont care if they are happy or not. after 3 friendlies against nonleague sides finishing with a total of minimum 15 goals satisfy them. if they are still unhappy, i sell them. if nobody buys them, i put them in the u18 team so that i make sure they dont play and i pull them out of training. in a few years, their football career finishes. i think i am a bit too strict. whatever, they deserve it.

usually i set myself financial limits, whenever a player is signed by me, or signs a new contract he gets a min. fee release clause, so that he will go if that much gets bid, so i have to sell them and take the money, as otherwise i would fret about selling my best player

I agree with LFC. If I get the message "player X doesn't think you have the resources to retain his services," I believe him and sell him on.

What I really love is those players who love playing for your club yet give the same message as above during negotiations. Am I being outsmarted by a computer (hypothetical, please do not answer).

I make a point of never selling my captain, unless THE BIG offer comes in. With the rest of my squad, I always accept offers above their transfer budget, and if i dont rate the player then I sell em on under price, but try to negotiate a nice sell on clause!. Mind you, I have to sell my players, coz I often hold 'too many players' in my squad above my wage budget. Luckly, I have manage to do enough wheeling and dealing to keep my club in gross profit.
