I choose 8) - signing one for £700 and three-four youngsters for £100

(although those wages are waaaay too high - especially for part timers I'm used to sign)

Come off it. You are entitled to your opinion I suppose however ill thought out. If that "someone" was a snide reference to me then you are completely wrong. The question is simply about how risk-averse you/one are/is as a manager.

Would you punt your spare cash on one star or a whole squad of hopefuls? That was really the quesation. It's a matter of personal choice and, given that there are so many other unknowns, a completely useless thing to seek tips about.

It seems to me in looking at the replies that most people here are quite risk-averse. Now, I am not so sure whether I expected that or not.
