If you sign anyone over 5 years then you are tied in to paying them for the full 5 years. If your team does well then they may ask to renogotiate the contract wether its up for renewal or not. They hold you at ransom, you pay up or have unhappy players in your squad.

This can happen even if your not doing well, it has happened to me in the past.
