I send my scout out, he comes back with a couple of players who are hot prospects or will add depth to the squad etc. Now what can I do. Can I now look at the players stats and make my own mind up or do I have to sign him on the strength of my scouts report? I know the old addage if you have to ask... but I want to play the game right.

I wouldn't just rely 100% on my scouts report. Remember, you are the manager and the one in charge, you decide whether you buy them or not. Personally, I take on what my scout says as a recommendation and then sign him if I think he will be good enough for the team.

What the Indispensible One said. Look at the guy's position and look at the stats you think are important for that position. That and the Scout's report should be enough to convince you either way.

Does anyone else get the messages where your scout "has heard good things about (fill in the blank)"? Are these guys just going around and sitting in the pub talking to the locals, not watching football matches?

Anyway, I'm with the Indispensible One. As you are in charge, it's you who's hired these scouts (most likely, if you're playing LLM), so put some trust in them. If you find he's not doing his job, you've always got the option of finding a replacement.

Quite rightly, being put on honest terms, all our teams are really ****e. It makes no difference what they scout says, almost every player turned up would definitely be good enough to make it into my squad of geezeers.

I subscribe to the 'Bill Shankly' school of scouting trust your eyes half the cheap scouts are profiles of spotty researchers and other free loaders who worm thier way into the database
