I don't know if this is just a lower league thing or if it happens in the higher divisions as well, but I often get drawn in the cups against teams that I have a league fixture with in the week after or before the cup fixture.

For example, in my current 01/02 game I'm managing Barnet, second season in the conference, and I've just been drawn against Canvey Island in the FA Cup, to be played on November the 16th. I then have a league match against them on Nov 30. And in the FA Trophy 2nd round i was paired up with Woking on Nov 23, whom I also played against in last season's FA Trophy 2nd round! To top it all off, I play Woking in the league on December the 14th. And no doubt there will be a replay in either of the cups too...

Does this happen to you too?

Yeah, it happens all the bloody time. Can even remember it back in the days of CM93, when whoever you drew in the 1st Round of the League Cup you would always be playing in the league the week after.

Aye. I once played St Johnstone something like 6 times in three weeks League Cup Final, Scottish Cup semi-final plus replay, and rearranged and ordinary League fixture (that's 5, isn't it)

I seem to remember losing 5 matches in a row - 4 of them against Arsenal and one against ManUre (bloody fixture list fixing gits).
I do, however, seem to get drawn against one particular club more often than you'd randomly expect. QPR in one game, Chelsea in another, Benfica in the worst. I seem to recall playing QPR something like 21 times in 5 seasons in one game.

Though that might be because I don't often get very far in the cups.

It's a psychological thing - of all the cup drawings in so many competition, of course only those stick out where there's something extraordinary. It would be interesting to make a bit more research like statistics based on maybe 20 or 50 drawings (maybe even more).
