Default India National Football League vs. J-League

I am in the AFC Champions League 4th Round Qualifier, I beat teams from Indonesia, and some other random place. Next, I have S-Pulse and tie away and win 2-1 at home. 4th Round I have played one leg in Japan against Jubilo Iwata (J-League Champs) with a 3-2 loss. Second Leg is still coming. Getting to my point; isn't the J-League supposed to be light years ahead of India?

... The semi-professional of clubs in India would lead you to believe the J-League clubs, which are fully professional, should totally dominate the us. In addition, over time can your club gain a full professional status... or will I always be semi-professional club?

Point 1: Yes, but there's a heavy bias in continental competitions towards active leagues in CM.

Point 2 someone else can try, I have no idea.

Indeed it is true . IIRC, it took me somewhere in the neighborhood of 10-12 seasons of reasonable success to make it so. When it happened it did feel a bit special, too

whats the defintion of reasonable success?

i mean is that like AFC Champions League group stages... lets say... 7 out of 10 years with a run deep into the knockout stages?... and league wise winning our consistently finishing second?

another question... i know i am full of them but since all the other clubs in india are semi-pro would that affect my ability to become professional?

My guess proves that it would take an awful long time. Unless you're like me, someone who has the best Patience attribute (playing through more than 10 seasons on CM0304 is something), you're never going to see anything happen.

Doesn't matter whether or not you gain professional status. Makes little or no difference.

Perhaps the global shift is now into the Indian thingy, you know? You know?

From what I hear you go pro when all your players/coaches/scouts/physios and other sundry footballing personages are signed to full time contracts.

By reasonable I mean getting to the SPL in 9 seasons or so. I didn't have a great deal of cup success along the way, either. And of course no UEFA Cup or CL.

I had all personnel on full time contracts but was still semi-pro until who knows what happened. It was after 1 or 2 seasons in the SPL when I noticed it changed. To be honest, I didn't watch it all too closely. Lie Axl said, it doesn't make any real difference, except that I could say to myself "we finally arrived" and then life went on

I often find that Irish teams regularly get to the Champions League after a good number of years, but always fail to get to the second phase.
Happened a lot in my Billericay game, and I only had the English league loaded. Cork City were the team most often there.
