Default Newbie question

I know very little about the real teams that make up non-American football. I recently started a game unemployed and signed with the Wexford Youth team in Ireland. I have played as manager of several other teams but have noticed some major differences wuth this team.

1- None of the players have a salary. This is good in that I don't have to worry about controlling payroll but any other team can come along and pick up any of my players and there is nothing I can do about it. Correct?

2- The players are 17 and under (I know, thus the Wexford Youths) but, in searching the player market,I have found several promising looking players who are much older and are willing to sign an amature contract. Is there a rule against having older players on a Youth team?

3- Should the team hypothetically enjoy some sucees and achieve promotion, would I then be able to sign players to professional contracts?

Thanks for any help you can give me.

I think you have picked a fairly unique league and team to manage and so I suspect there wont be many that can give you any real advice or help.

From my understanding Wexford Youth arn't actually a specialist youth team. You should be able to sign players of any age.

The contracts are because you're an ameteur club, but if you do manage to get promotion and raise your reputation you should then become a semi-pro team, and in the future a proffessional team.

Whilst you are an ameteur team, the players are free to leave when they want (be it to another team) and you're free to release them without compensation. And vice-versa, you can take players from other clubs.
