ManU was relegated to championship for a few years, and i took over the club as a difficult challenge due to debts and very poor squad, well i managed to get them promoted after 2 years using loans etc. once i gained promotion with new contract, i just read their min. expectation is to qualify for ECL in 2 years??? and they expect mid table... LOL!!! incredible.
I would have thought their min. expectation would be to fight against relegation bravely, and a more realistic target for 2 year plan >_<
Does this mean their reputation as a club hasnt dropped during all that many years?
I think that the board confidence feature was a great inclusion in this year's Football Manager, but it doesn't work as well as it could to be fair. SI haven't released a fixlist, but perhaps this will be on the new patch?
As a secondary note, I don't agree that teams coming up to the Premier League would necessarily always ask to fight relegation bravely. The likes of Derby would, for sure. But when West Ham were promoted back up, I'm pretty sure the expectation was to (re)establish themselves in the league. Any club with years of experience in the Premier League who get relegated and come back up would have a similar expectation I would think. I'm pretty sure Charlton would, for example, if they came up this year.
I have a similiar problem with Portsmouth. I took over with 4 games to go and no real hope of survival from relegation. Now I have 2 seasons to firstly get promoted and then qualify for the UEFA Cup through the permier league the following season. Should be a good challenge.
To help aid me in this quest the board sold my best player.
It becasue their reputation hasn't dropped down to a normal CCC reputation because they are a big club. I think that this would be realistic enough. They would want to be pushing on to get back to the top. If they had been down in League one for 6 or 7 years, then it would be unrealistic but I don't think this is too bad. As long as they don't sack you if you just miss out. If they decide to sack you for not getting euro qualification then that would be annoying.
On my mate's game, he has taken over Man Utd in the relegation zone after about 15 games. He's played about 15 games, losing 3. The board's expectations are for him to qualify for Europe despite them being in a disasterous position when he took over and so his position his currently unsecure. Needs a fix... Preferably in the patch.
