I'm not sure if this has been mentioned before but I think for future FM's a better relationship with the chairman should be introduced.
i.e. Instead of the chairman going over your head and accepting a dismal offer for your star player, he first comes to you and asks what you think about the offer. You could reply with things like 'I think we could get more money for this player' or 'we are looking like promotion/title contenders this season so lets wait until the summer' (more likely in January this one) or 'He is our best player, the team will suffer without him' or 'I will only sell him for that if I can have all the cash to find a replacement'
Things like this really. Of course the final decision will be made depending on the chairmans attributes and personality, along with your own attributes and reputation. I think it would be a nice touch as if you have a pleasant chairman and a decent reputation yourself then the chairman would consider your opinion. This could also lead to a 1-20 rating between you and the chairman/board.
i do get frustated with manager accepting crap offers for players ie Micah Richards 15million we didnt need the money and could easily have got more but the chairman accepted it i was shocked and it threw my team plans out the windows
Interaction is a feature that hasn't been improved to it's full potential for a long while on FM. I don't know if that's because these forums remain filled with stupid suggestions like "fottbalers going on a booze binge" etc, or not
Here are my suggestions;
- Chairman interaction re: signings.
- Ass man and coach interaction in general.
- Reduce the press releases about players facing former clubs and me beuing interested in shortlisted players and replace with press conference when signing a player to give the fans anm idea of what you expect from them. This would cut out problems e.g. signing Torje and the fans hating him despite only being 17 and a great prospect.
- Chance to make press releases about your contract expiring.
- Giving a reason for leaving the club e.g. chairman interference rather than just resigning out of the blue.
- Being able to comment on a ref if he is card happy but hasn't necessarily sent someone off.
- Small interview on applying for a job e.g. expectations, assessment of current squad.

I'd love it to be the case however I just do not believe that this happens.
IRL chairman do sometimes dictate what a manager can and can't do e.g Mourinho didn't want Gallas to go, especially to Arsenal but this is a case of a chairman/owner who on the game would have poor attributes for manager relations and be a bit of a c*ck in terms of his personality.
On the flip side there is the Arsenal chairman and board that have seen Arsenal in the shadow a little for the last few seasons regarding the league but have still let Mr Wenger do things his way.
These are just a couple of examples but as it happens IRL something in the game would add even more realism.
You could even look at the chairman and board stats to see if you would potentially take a job offer from a club... I mean apart from deluded Keegan who else would want to manage Newcastle with that chairman and board at the helm... manager relationship = 1

Good ideas, all. And I would only add this - in any situation where there are multiple-choice options for responses, can we have a few more choices? Especially in Team Talk.
Agree with OP- as its something Ive kept suggesting since FM07 and its introduction.
More importantly it focuses on SI adding features but consistently failing to flesh them out- they really need get away from this idea that they can add features that can effect our "hard work" in ways without giving us ANY influence at all over proceedings.
Its why at times new features feel so bolted on and paper thin.
Its particularly annoying when you know its not a solid business decision as you invariably just end up going out and buying a replacement (sometimes for more money).
Chairmen and clubs currently dislike you but you can't see it in game.
Any time I leave a club I always use FMM to check what my relationship is like with them. I spent 4 years at Bayern Munich, won 4 leagues, 3 cups, 3 league cups and a European Cup then left AC Milan. I am their top disliked personnel (even higher than Jens Lehmann) with a score of 100/100 now that's gratitude for ya.
