when starting A new game and you can slect load players from other nations, would th actuall gameplay be slower or does it just take longer to load up?

Short term you won't notice much difference.
It may take marginally longer to load.

But long term it will screw up your game - i did it with FM07, included all brazilians, was playing with every major european nation on, and by 2050, there were 6 brazilians in the england squad, 4 in the france and italy squad, and the ENTIRE portugal squad were from brazil.

It just gets silly.

So only use it if you intend to manage that nation, and only use it if you don't expect to be playing for too long.
