on the issue of the assistant manager thing i think it wud be great to be in charge og the u18's or reserves then get offered a job at a low league club and work ur way up or get the managers job if the manager gets sacked

I think it would be a good feature to be able to start your career managing an Under 18's or reserve side, and starting your career from there. I don't agree with the ticket prices or Ass Man though

Who would? It would be like a giant flaw in the game! Purists would scream that managers (or your ass man) simply have no say over what advertising boards are put around the stadium, what insurance your players are under, or what it costs to get into a cup match.

Still, the ability to start out as a coach is cool! Hopefully it'll have news articles like:
Your wife called today to ask why her unemployed brother is making more money than you.
Respond:

Do you:

Shut up and get your ass back to the kitchen sink.

Snitch on your brother-in-law to the DWP. Schadenfreude is a great feeling.

Ask the board for a more funds for your bone-idle wife.

Show the bitch your signature on the divorce papers and hopefully scare her into being grateful for her weekly trip to the hairdressers.

'Accidentally' hurt yourself on the training pitch and sue for compensation for a work-related injury. Those gormless trainees will back you up.

It would be fun if you could be a player/manager, come on in the final minute and win the cup but you would have to add atributes so this could be difficult.

I think some people are bein a bit harsh to this kids ideas, sure you may not agree with them but constructive criticism anyone? anyway i think being able to be an assistent manager in charge of reserves or under 18s is a decent idea and not that different from being in charge of national under 21s

How can one be constructive to an idea which is a rip off of a game which isn't even accurate?

We've given them the benefit of the doubt in our replies and given constructive critisicm (most of us, anyway).

i think the assistant manager idea is a good one. it could serve as like a training option for new gamers, in a "show me the ropes" type of thing. or it could be part of your football education, you can give opinions on players in the youth team, recieve messages like "message from the gaffer: please play <player name> in the next 2-3 reserve games to boost his fitness, please reoprt on his progress when the games are finished." and when you are a manager you can ask the same thing to your assistant. you can also have messages like, "message from gaffer: i am going on holiday for 2 weeks, i am leaving you in charge for the time that i am away. i give you permission to sign a central-defender, on loan only. i trust your ability to spot a good player. i will leave the team selection to you but i would like you to keep to a 4-4-2 formation."

just a few ideas expanding on the idea by allandshearer

I agree with Michaelfoster. You'd need to change the whole game concept if you want to start as a player/manager. And as he pointed out, the name says manager (although I'm requesting being able to start with a coach, so I'm no better, really!).

If you want to be a player and a manager, go play FIFA!

Nobody I know plays FIFA anyways, it's generally First Eleven (or ISS/PES). My personal fave is PES 2. Although this has no real bearing on the thread.
