I don't think this has been posted before and there are to many posts to chack through to find out.
This is not directly an editor problem but it does require knowledge of Ability and 1-20 rating for attributes so it is kind of.
If I was going to edit a player with MCFM05 but did not want to go overboard which is best.
Changing a players finishing to 20 or his rating to 200?
for example
if a player had 12 finishing but a 200 potential ability would he be a better finisher than 20 finishing but 150 ability? This may seem a strange question but I want to amke some changes but not let them be obvious.
Current Ability (CA) = The current level at which they are, regardless of stats
Potential Ability (PA) = This is the level at which they can improve to if they have the right training facilities etc. - they may never reach this level or anything near it depending on the circumstances.
Stats = The actual stats are what determines how good they are, someone with CA 1, shooting 20 is just as good at shooting as someone with CA200,, shooting 20 (depending on composure etc.).
Raising the CA can also cause the computer to raise the stats slightly to match the ability they now (cheatingly) possess.
If you want to go overboard, set CA & PA to 200, & all stats to 127...
You will get bored during games I would imagine, as you would beat the best teams 80-0.
I have always been of the opinion that any stats entered are ones that are known by the researcher for certain. the CA is indeed the current level the player is at, and as result, the rest of the players stats are generated based ont he CA's generalisation.
Also, AFAIK, the potential ability can also represent how good an older player once was, for reputation purposes.
Note that a finishing stat of 20 will mean that the player will utilize his chances better then a player with 12 in finishing.
However if does not mean that he will score more, as the 2nd player may have better atributes so he will be able to achive more oportunities.
