It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

agree there needs to be and there will in future versions. But this is what PPM's are for, to allow players the freedom to use these now, without the extra options.

Too many new options in 1 go is not the way forward and would only get people more confused.
Your completely right i think eventually certain positions will have tick boxes for certain moves, such as winger players to cut inside, full backs to overlap, forward come deep to get ball etc. But its a bit of a way off as it would change coding and layout and seeing how many issues we are having with this edition lots of new feature are unlikely for 2008 IMO.

Erm, the coding for the moves are already there as PPM. It just needs to be reworked into tactical instructions.

And I doubt confusion is limited to new implementations. Many people still don't have concrete ideas of what settings like mentality, creative freedom does. If you explain in concise terms, what each instruction does, how complicated would it be? Complication arises from not knowing exactly what those terms mean.

But the things you listed are explained and still cause confusion. Its clear in the manual and when you hover over the slider, just exactly what the sliders mean, yet day after day people still struggle to get to terms with the basic concept.

The PPM's are part of the players personality though, and adding them all as tactical isntructions just is not viable. It would bring around 30 to 40 new tactical isntructions, far too many imo.

I think the PPM's work excellent and should not be turned into tactics. The reason is this: When you play a lot, slowly the game turns into math. There is no way to address this in the end, cause the engine is of course math.

But the PPM's helps a lot. They have increased the sense that you are dealing with people, who do things regardless of what you tell them, and the tutoring part has ensured that these people also influence each other, just like people do (I remember Capello complaining that when he coached Michael Laudrup at Real Madrid, he had 20 players who all tried to disguise their pass by looking in the opposite direction, and it did not really work very well for most of them ) . If PPM's became part of tactics it would also become math.
