It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

Default run with ball often=trying to round keeper?

ive found selecting run with ball often on strikers makes it more likely they'll try to round the keeper...anyone one else thought this?

It sounds reasonable to me. I haven't tried it, but I will now; it's a bit annoying when it's 1-on-1 and your striker just hoofs the ball straight at the goalie when a decent side-step would leave an open goal.

Good idea.

I have aften wondered why top strikers dont try to take the ball round the keeper and this may be it! Will give it a try.

Yup - I am up for trying this as well.

I am playing with Arsenal and last game Henry and Vela managed 15 shots at goal between them against Liverpool and a whole 2 were on target! Didnt have long shots on higher than mixed, their composure levels are 15 and 17 respectively and they can both score for fun normally. Cant blame supakeepaz either as Reina had nothing to save!

It must be my settings then, so i will give this a go and let you know how I get on

Righty.

Just tried this in my next game so thought I would go for a quick feed back.

Home game against Bolton (they normally give me all sorts of trouble). I set both Henry and Vela to RWB and Forward Runs on often, Long shots on rarely.

Result: Arse 3:0 Bolton

Henry 4 shots, 3 on target 1 goal
Vela 4 shots, 4 on target 2 goals

I think you may be on to something here, but one swallow doesn't make a summer so on we go for a longer test

yeah...its hit and miss...you need good dribbling ability and all the associated skill but, like in real life, they'll still **** it up sometime ...also dont have strikers, wingers on cross from byline. they'll run to the byline too often evn if clean through on goal

i also believe tempo has an incredible effect on the success of goals to shots ratio...a slower tempo creates more time to compose the striker...if this is the case does anyone else feel tempo should be an individual instruction? my point being. away from time midfield and defence players need to get the ball away quicker from harrying opposition but all the hard work goes to waste with the striker spoiling all the effort and blazing it over...i think this is the main tactic which is causing all the controversy in this forum about inconsistency in scorelines and has been fitted into the game by si to limit goals scored away...it makes sense for teams to be more nervous and perfomances to drop away but ifeel there are other ways they could employ this into the game:-
team talks should have more effect away. b4 people start, iknow they do but i mean even more so...there could be rousing team talks from captains or experienced players helping younger players...this would add more emphasis on choosing a suitable captain
the crowd having more effect on a game...if an ex player returns to his old ground the fans give him a hard time...ticket sales having an influence ie. away teams are given less tickets therefore resulting in less support...smaller clubs also have less support...
i dont think referees and linesman should influence a game because loosing can already be frustrating enough and its a thing their trying to limit in the real game anyway...
if you guys have any suggestions i'd like to hear them...thanks

strikers no longer seem to attempt to chip or round the keeper anymore... previously you could expect a keeper rushing out to be either ronaldo side stepped or lobbed. Not any more they just try to blast it.

I've tried this out (in fact I set all my players with 16+ pace and dribbling to run with ball) and it's improved my game play quite a bit. The strikers try to go round the keeper (with varying success), the wingers are more effective and the midfielders get more in the game too (I play focused passing down the wings).

Good shout.

As the old Notts County song goes...it's just like watching Juventus!

(bit of useless knowledge here - when Juve were a fledgling team, Notts played them but Juve didn't have a kit, so Notts lent them their home kit - that's why Juve play in black & white stripes.)
Hell, you've got to grab claims to fame where you can get it at Meadow Lane.
