Thanks for the feedback on Fulham Pointon! I really need to ask you a few questions which may take a while for you to answer so please do so when you have time:
I want to know exactly all the things you do with your tactics, team instructions, individual instructions, etc in different game situations:
e.g. what do you to insructions do if you are up against a big side?
What do you do to all instructions if you want to defend a lead?
What do you do to all instructions if you need to score a goal?
What do you do if the opposition gets a player sent off and you are winning or losing?
What do you do if you get a player sent off and you are winning or losing?
If you could please go into detail of all your instructions I would be extremely grateful! Something which I notice quite often is that teams only ever use two formations when coming up against me, either they play a standard 4-4-2 with attacking arrows on the wingers or they play a 4-5-1 with attcking arrows on the wingers! How could i exploit those tactics? Thanks!

Pointon I will give you plenty of time to respond to my questions above as I require detailed answers but I would like to know the effect of this tactic if I put arrows on the two CB's going back towards the GK as similar to franky's tactic? The reason I ask this is becasue I am doing well with this tactic as Fulham as I have reached to January Transfer window and my team are currently in 6th but I feel that I have conceded far too many goals and also too cheaply. Also I am getting the PC version of FM06 shorlty so I was wondering if you could put a link up for the sexy football tactic? Thanks!

It Doesnt.
Football Manager 2006 is rubbish. I've finally had enough of this poxy game.
Its totally unrealistic, tactics work until the next game when the AI or more realistically commands on the program make your players go from Pele one week to that bloke who done the London Marathon in divers boots the next. The players training arrow green all pointing up, first three games in new season all won including a demolition of Wigan who in the previous season scored for fun against more or less my same side. Its not right man fellas. Then Derby County 0.5. I aint got the hump about losing 5 nil I have when its to do with programming and wasting £30.00 on a lottery. I said to my son in law I suspected 2005 was a programmers story board and I'm now sure it is in 2006.
Pass me my Playstation and load me PES 4. A push on the joystick makes the player run forward a yellow arrow doesnt. Rant over

Ok Pointon27, I tried this tactic and it has got me out of bother with my Birmingham side but im still getting beat by Arsenal, Chelsea, Man U and Liverpool.
What other advice can you give me.

Ok i'll try to answer some of the questions asked.
If i have a player sent off regardless of if i'm winning or losing i play 4-4-1 with my big target man up front.
If i'm losing in a game it all depends on how i'm playing, if i'm playing well i leave it as it is, maybe last 10 or 15 mins i will increase team mentality go as wide as possible in crease tempo, reduce time wasting as much as possible and go direct passing.
If i'm winning then again it depends on how i'm playing, if i'm battering them then i leave it and hope for a 2nd goal if i'm under the cosh then it all depends on why but mainly i find it's due to opposition full backs not getting forward, so i remove the through balls for full backs option, and switch to slow tempo go narrow as possible, and direct passing.
In my latest game with Oldham having consecutive promotions and now in the premier so far i've had a mixed bag of results, i beat Newcastle at home 5-0 i think of 4 not quite sure and i beat them away 4-0, i also beat Chelsea at home 2-0 but to be honest i was lucky, i drew with Man Utd at Old Trafford, and beat them in the League cup 2-1 at Old Trafford also beating Arsenal 4-2 at the Emirates Stadium, i got to the League cup final in which i got battered 5-1 by Chelsea, i also lost to Man Utd at home in the league 2-1 and although i'm sat in 6th with over half the season gone i've scored the most goals, and got the 6th best defensive record.
I find it tought myself against the topteams and can be either brilliant or crap, i find it struggles against the Chelsea Tactic, so straight away now i take of the through balls for full backs slow down the tempo and go direct passing, i also so the same for Man Utd, were as against Arsenal the tactic did ok as it was.
So you could try them ideas, but all in all the tactic got me to the Premier and has me in 6th place in the first season with a **** poor although in a couple of years once the young players get a bit better i expect to be in the Champions League, i used the tactic with Chelsea and know with the right players you can win prety much everything with ease, i have done with Oldham in my previous 2 seasons league wise, but finding the premier a different kettle of fish. I will post screen shots at the end of the season.
If an opposition player gets sent off if i'm winning i keep it as it is, maybe go wider and slow down tempo, if i'm losing i also go wide as possible slow down the tempo, that way you make your extra man count by going as wide aspossible and stretching the game, so if you have a player sent off it's a good idea to try and go as narrow as possible to condense the play.
I also notice the AI uses a 4-4-2 with arrows quite frequently but i dont necessarily see it as a problem and sometimes have great success against this formation especially if the full backs push forward and join in the attack also, as this leaves loads of space for you to exploit, as said before the key is to watch the opposition full backs when they attack, as if they dont get forward once you win possesion your through ball is not effective as the opposing full backs just pick it up, the soul reason for the through balls is to get in behind the opposition, and the whole tactic hinges on that, if they dont, then you can take of the through balls and allow your full backs to get forward more and run with ball.
Hope that helps

I play my matches with commentary only! Do i need to watch the matches then so I can tell if the oppositions full backs are getting forward? What are your match settings i.e. match speed, etc. I honestly think that this would be a good tactic for me if the game didnt have such an appauling AI! I started a new game with Portsmouth and I spent £65m on quality players with the right attributes for the rights positions yet still I am half way through the season and only won 3 games! I notice that my defence has not once ever cut out an opponents attck! I find this game seriously unrealistic & I proved how rubbish the AI is because I know that with the players I have bought I should be good enough the get in the top 8 of the league!

Yeah it's important to watch the games, at the moment i watch key highlights only but match sped on normal, however when i was developingg my tactic i watched most matches in either ful or extended.
I'm currently working on ways to improve the tactic in ways of defending a lead or getting a goal back if needed.
So far i've had some success in both but it's time consuming as i'm having to go back to watch in full match, once tested to be successful i will try and post either the instructions or the tactic itself.
One other point how is your players morale and how do you conduct team talks, as these have a massive bearing on how your team performs, are you also keeping a settled back 4 as this is vital.

OK I will start to watch my matches from now on! The morale was pretty good good at the start of the season & I have been drawing alot of games! Only once have a criticised my players during team talks but I either encourage them if I am losing or I am pleased with the performance! Also if i have narrowly lost a game i sympathise with the players. I have been playing the same back four as long as they all have over 90% condition. I have used the filter to make sure that my players suit the tactics requirements so i dont understand why the team cannot play well or score! I have cesar delgado and Jao Tomas as my attackers with Palacio and Zalayeta as backup! I dont think the your tactic is the problem, I think that it is the silly AI on the Xbox 360 version of the game!
