First of all bear in mind that I created this for my Bromley team when i got in to the
championship from BSS, so it wasnt tested on bigger teams.
After I got in to Championship with my 4-3-2-1 I felt it was time to create a tactic which
would make my team concentrate more on defending good rather than attack, like in my last
tactic.
So to get on it.....there are two verions of the tactic....
HOME
Its 4-4-1-1 tactic that is really operating more like 4-4-2.
DEFENSE
You have your standard back four with moderate attacking options on FB's and with the left
CB operating more defensivlly than the right CB althoug they are both set on only defensive
duties.
Now I am still having trouble on positionign my defense on the pitch. After some time with
FM08 I believe this option to be one of the most important in the game. As I see it it would
be best to set it to more deep coz most oppositions goals in this version of FM (at least
for me) come from attackers running away from my CB's......but also setting it so you are
invitting them to come at you, so if anyone has any advice or their opservations on this
please post.
MIDFIELD
The midfield is divided on two duties, one part to defend and other to attack (wouldnt you
know it :-) ). The wingers have your ussual winger settings and a farrow. I have noticed
that when you remove the farrows they deffend really good and pul back all the way to
defensive line which is good when you are defending like crazy against a much much better
team.
The right MC is your DMC and the left one is operating like an AMC playmaker with a lot of
creative freedom and a free role. Most of the passes will come from this guy so make him a
player with a good passing and creativity
ATTACK
The lonely SC has lower mentallity than the AMC. The reason for this is that this way they
are operating more closer to each other thus have more passing options.
Not sure if this is the key for this tactic but I have set a target man deploy to RUN ONTO
BALL and I have a fast striker that collects them and bangs a lot of them in (note that the
target man hasnt been thicked on as I fount it to be more one dimensioned game). Now I also
have another ballanced striker who is not fast but it works for him too. Havent really
tried without the ROB option.....
With all this said please dont expect your team to dominate and crush an opponent every game coz as I said earlier it was created to counter and slow down the opponent play to your
benefit with a big midfield cappable of holding up the ball and chewing up the time (has to
be tested with OFTEN TIME WASTING).....
When i say away I really mean when you are playing against a better team. Nothing has really been changed but the team formation layout which is now 4-1-4-1 and team instructions set to more deffensive.
ADDITIONAL NOTES
As allways you can switch the team instructions to your liking. I usually play with short and quick passing (here slow) and moderate closing down and creativity. You put it like you like and post how it works best for you.
When behind and looking for a goal i usually set it like THIS and it does produce really good
