I'm trying to train my striker into a left back due to his good pace and reasonable tackling. How long will it take for him to become good in the position? Will i need to play him at left back while i wait for him to learn the position?

Each player has an adaptibility rating which determines the speed at which they reach competence in a new position. Although it is a hidden attribute, you can sometimes tell what it is by asking your scouts.

p.s. Sometimes I player can fit in after 4-6 months whilst others take around 12-18 months to fit in to a completely new position.
