I liked this formation in FM06, but since FM07, it has been too hard for me to implement as I want it. I did however get it to work reasonably well in FM08 but not against really good opposition.
A couple of things to try if you find that you are leaking goals:
1. Have the two outer DCs take up wider positions using the side arrows to the full-back positions.
2. Have the DMCs take up more defensive positions using back arrows.
3. Try having 2 AMCs and just one striker. If you really want to FCs, try having one of the AMCs with a forward arrow and offset the one existing FC a little to the right or left (depending on what AMC you want moving into the FC position)
It's a formation I like because my favourite players in the game can all be accomodated. If you find a way to make it work against the really good teams in the game (i.e. later stages of Champions League), please post back here because I'm interested.
p.s. Just one other thing to remember is to use man marking with at least one DC in this. If you use only zonal marking, I found that it was too easy for all 3 DCs to get sucked into the challenge against one forward - making it easy for the opposition to play easy through balls.
Hope this helps.
