In my latest job I've been managing for 2 seasons in the Serbian First League. The board long term expectations were "to be a strong player in the Serbian First League after two years" or words to that effect. In both season 1 and 2 I finished in 3rd place and lost in the promotion play off final. Now to me thats a pretty strong player in the division, the only stronger finish I could have achieved would be to get promoted.
My two year contract runs out and the board have not given me a new contract. Now either this means the board is lying and they really wanted me to get the team promoted, in which case why dont they say that. Or the board expectations are a complete steaming pile of kak.
It annoys me because I was building a good side up at the same time as reducing the clubs wages to a manageable level and barring getting promoted I couldnt finish any higher in the league. I'm afraid its this kind of stupidity in the game that puts users off.
