Hi

I have a boxed version of FM08. I have been playing it regularly since Xmas and I came to load a game last night and I got an error when loading the game. A windows popup appeared and said:

Could not load the saved game

I tried a few times, tried re-booting the laptop 3 times but nothing worked.

Then I tried loading again but it dodnt work so I quit the program and an error message appeared saying:

parsing error 30 at profile0.xml

I cant load the game and its really annoying - Im quite far into the season and have got a good run going.

Can anyone help? I have looked for troubleshooting guides, but I cant find anything.

i have the same problem. I was saving my game when suddenly the electricity went down here and when it came back i turned on my PC went to try and play my save but it could not load the saved game. Anyone know how to contact technical support?

First thing is to see if the game made a backup, if so it will be in the folder with your other games. Other than that there is no way to fix it.

However goto options next time you start a game and tick the rolling auto-save option. It will save everyso often, so you have a backup. You should NEVER rely on one save file for FM.

I have the rolling back up selected. It auto saves every day in the game anyway.

How will I check the back ups? I only have one saved game so far, so it should be easy to spot. Are they held in a special folder?

Unlikely as the save game you are trying to play is more than likely corrupt. Sorry

As Neji said, check for the 'back up'. FN always makes a back up of your saved game before it writes the new one out. So the chances are, you will have a backup version of your saved game.

I haven't had this happen with FM 08 but anytime it happened on FM 07 a quick defragmentation of the drive usually worked. You could use the analyse option and it should list the most fragmented files. If your save game is one of these that might be the issue.

Ive tried the xml file download from Microsoft but that hasnt solved it

I have looked for the backup file but I cant find where it is. Any advice as to where I should be looking?
