Default Football Manager / Vista :-(

I bought the game today, checked and asked a memeber of staff if it was compatable with windwos vista, assured it would work no problems. I installed and it worked the first time no problems, since it wont load and i keep getting a white screen. The first thing i did was go this website and check and suprise, suprise i see loads are having same issue. I followed all the reported fixes, updating graphics card, unistalling and reinstalling java and it still wont work, it works fine on windows XP, Vista another story.

The problem at the moment is i keeping gettng a white screen and nothing else, is there a patch or something i am ment to download? I'm not a tech novice, i know how fix most but this annoying me and if its not fixed i shall retuning the game ASAP.

strange. I run Vista and experience no problems. Maybe you find something if you dig a bit in the forums

Have you installed the 8.0.1 patch? If not I would suggest you do. Like Icy1987 I am also using vista and have never had a days problem and I have been playing it since about a week after release. The only thing I can think of is that something you are possibly running at the same time as FM is interfering somehow. How much ram do you currently have? Try bringing up the task manager and disabling as many processes as you can to see if that helps. It is recommended that you disable any virus protection while using FM so perhaps you can also try this.

I use Vista and very often get the white screen, but I do run Windows Messenger and Internet explorer at the same time.

No need to shout, how ever frustrated you currently are.

It's difficult to say which patch you need without knowing which version of the game you have, which you haven't said.

If you have Football Manager 2008, boxed copy, then you should download the patch for that version of the game.

WWSM 2008 boxed copy, you should download the patch for that version of the game.

The other patches are for Mac and/or digital download versions which are therefore inappropirate.

I wouldn't advise dropping the laptop out of the window as, it might hit someone, which would be a lot more costly than just the repair of the machine.

If you want to waste your money by bying a new laptop, go for it! And where do you live, because where i live shops dont take games back after the packaging has come off!

ANyway, it works fine with vista on mine, no problem!
