Has anyone got any tips for eradicating individual errors? it seems that every game I play 75% of all goals conceded are down largly to a miss placed pass, or a defender stepping up....why does 1 defender step up only to be beaten by the through ball or long pass?
I have both defenders set to defensive, little creative freedom, and hard tackling, yet one of them always seems to lack that little piece of judgement...would this be down to his stats? and if I'm playing as a lower league team how would I compensate for the fact he's going to have low stats? also, this very rarely seems to happen to the AI...even when I'm playing lower league, the opposition always seem to play like Barcelona...knocking 75 yard passes through to the opposition striker, or they eventually finish off a nice 35 pass move by rounding my useless goalkeeper...
maybe he's trying to play off side? have you got that stat ticked? if so untick it. could be down to the players stats, could be that the defender feels he has to move out because the midfield is so much further forward than the defencive line?
I am quite sure most of the goals i saw on tv are due to individual errors.
Anyway i used to have this problem where my defenders with good stats keep making stupid judgements and they are set to similar tactics as yours. The next season i bought an equally good defender with high influence and good decisions and i start to concede a lot lesser goals due to mistakes in defence and my players would start to praise him that he organise the defense well etc.

No, I try not to use offside with lower league teams....the defenders are no different to the oppositions....I think the comment about the mentality of the midfielders may be correct, the are set much higher than the defenders...I might play with a DM to see if that helps shore up my leaky defence.
Step up, miss the ball, lets the opposition striker in and now I'm losing 2-1 against a non league Polish side....I think the decision making is the problem, but what to do when you are playing lower league? the AI doen't seem to account for the fact that my players are naturally poor and that the opposition is useless...oh, and I've had muxh the better of play
and I forgot to add that yet again it was a poor pass by my midfielder, compounded by the fact my defender stepped up at the same time....possibly thinking we were on the attack, but not realising that my winger is **** and can't pass to save his life....but has somewhow better stats than most his peers??
Maybe reduce the long passing and through balls to stop wayward passes in the first place? I use short, quick passing with my peterborough side with a 5 man midfield and rarely give the ball away.
